As some know it has been impossible to downgrade Playstaion 3 consoles where the factory firmware was 3.56 or above .. The hack being in OFW 3.55. The guys over at the spanish website Elotorado have discovered and implemented a way to downgrade these consoles, and also have a new way that does not require having a factory service dongle to perform the downgrade.

This is very good news , and it tells me that it will only be a matter of time before even the newest PS3s can be hacked to run homebrew/Linux.

Here is a snippet of the required patches to the NAND dump after you have your hardware flasher attached and your NAND/NOR dumped.

TX and C4eva Defeat All 360 Slim Drives with PCB & LT Ultimate! *UPDATED*
Posted on 2012-10-29 by admin |

The wraps have finally come off what Team Xecuter recently teased as “The Lord of the Hacks – One Xbox 360 Drive to Rule Them All”. The surprise is a new Unlocked DVD Replacement PCB universal for all Xbox 360 Slim DVD drives (Lite-On DG-16D4S 9504/0272/0225/0401/1071, Lite-On DG-16D5S 1175/1532, Hitachi DLN10N 0500/0502).

In addition to this astounding feat, and equally amazing, is c4eva’s creation of a new firmware in the Lite Touch line, dubbed “LT Ultimate”, or “LTU” for short. LT Ultimate has been developed specifically for use with the new Slim DVD PCB, and is safe for use on Xbox LIVE and when performing dashboard SystemUpdates. Unlike previous firmwares, LT Ultimate boasts an incredible new feature that allows it to function without needing a previous full fw dump; only the DVD key is required! LT Ultimate will initially be released as v1.0, and consists of a single firmware file, containing all the necessary code to function with each of the Slim DVD drives, and JungleFlasher handling the selection and programming of it for the appropriate drive model and firmware version.

For those following the Xbox 360 scene here is some new information for you … There has been a new Corona motherboard found in the wild … No POST connection I2c and apparently some missing SPI resistors for reading/writing the NAND. Microsoft apparently really wants to stop RGH , or make it as difficult and unfeasible as they can.

Here are some images of the new motherboard , with the changes pointed out… Thank you too Razkar and Hackfaq.net for the images and information.

If you have been following the PS3 scene recently you know that there have been huge developments with key leaks etc … I haven’t reported much on the specific key leaks… Honestly out of fear from Sony and the lawyers attacking me to remove them from my site etc, I prefer to maintain a low profile. In any case I will be reporting on major releases and developments of the scene as they happen, and I am also starting to take a personal interest in the PS3 scene, as it has opened up a lot more possibilities now that most systems can be hacked.
